Anthea Doropoulos is an accomplished dance producer and arts manager with 16 years of industry experience. As a creative producer, she has driven innovation in the dance sector by establishing platforms for research, residencies, development, workshops, and productions, with a focus on inclusive and accessible dance practices for both emerging and established dance artists.

Since 2007, Anthea has served as Director of DirtyFeet, transforming the organisation from a grassroots initiative into a sustainable, vital contributor to Australia’s independent dance sector. Under her leadership, DirtyFeet has become integral to the dance ecology, renowned for its support of emerging dance artists and inclusive programs, including collaborations with artists with disabilities.

In 2019, Anthea began her role as Creative Producer at Campbelltown Arts Centre, where she successfully delivered sell-out dance seasons for Sydney Festival, featuring works by artists Rhiannon Newton and Jasmin Sheppard,Since 2021, she has also produced compelling new works by Martin del Amo, Brianna Kell, Party Dozen, and Raghav Handa. During 2019 and 2020, she also served as Program Manager for March Dance, Sydney’s flagship independent contemporary dance festival, managing 122 artists and 102 events annually.

Anthea is deeply passionate about community engagement and actively collaborates with artists and communities from diverse backgrounds. She has championed First Nations artists, emerging talents, and artists from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse, LGBTQIA+, and artists with disability, consistently demonstrating her commitment to fostering a more inclusive and culturally rich arts landscape.

Sarah-Vyne Vassallo is a renowned leader in Australia's inclusive arts movement, recognised for her contributions in professionalising inclusive arts practices. With firsthand experience of living with an invisible disability, she is celebrated for her contributions as a director, choreographer, writer, and inclusive arts consultant. Her work spans over three decades, intersecting various disciplines such as dance, theatre, production design, screen arts, and arts development.

As the former Artistic Director of Murmuration, Sydney's first integrated performing arts company, Sarah-Vyne has made significant impacts in the arts and entertainment sector. She is a recipient of the prestigious Winston Churchill Fellowship, further underscoring her influence and dedication to the arts. Her extensive collaborative portfolio includes work with notable organisations such as the Sydney Festival, Sydney Comedy Festival, Sydney Opera House, Museum of Contemporary Arts, Art Gallery of NSW, Vivid Sydney, Create NSW, Festival of Dangerous Minds, and many more. Additionally, she has worked with prominent entities like Disney, ABC, Foxtel, Channel 7, and SBS.

Sarah-Vyne is deeply invested in creative learning and knowledge sharing. She serves as a Resident Artist at the Sydney Opera House's Centre of Creativity and as a Teaching Artist at NAISDA. Her decade-long involvement with DirtyFeet—as a maker, facilitator, board member, and staff member—highlights her commitment to nurturing artistic talent. Currently residing as a permanent regional artist in Darkinjung Country, she continues to influence and inspire the arts community with her wealth of industry knowledge and expertise.

OUR WHY
ANNUAL REPORTS
The founding members of DirtyFeet met at the Ausdance professional dance classes and decided to put their feet together - to create an initiative that would give independent dance artists access to workspace, opportunities to present new choreography and to promote the role of dance in the wider community.
Now driven by Anthea Doropoulos, Sarah-Vyne Vassallo DirtyFeet continues today as a not-for-profit contemporary dance organisation supporting independent emerging dance artists and promoting community engagement in the arts.
